About Invisalign

Invisalign Treatment At 20 Mile Orthodontics

Dr. Ted Struhs and his dedicated team provide children, teenagers and adults with exceptional orthodontic treatment in a fun and friendly environment. In addition to our Parker office, we also provide orthodontic care at our second  location in Castle Rock. We pride ourselves in going above and beyond for our patients, and offer flexible office hours at both of our locations to ensure you get the treatment you need whenever you need it.

For patients seeking a more subtle and discreet orthodontic treatment, we offer Invisalign, the virtually-invisible way to straighten your teeth. It’s most popular among our teenage and adult patients.

Invisalign – A Clearly Different Way to Improve a Smile

Using a series of clear, removable aligners that fit snugly over your teeth, Invisalign gradually moves the teeth, step-by-step, into the optimal position which has been carefully planned by Dr. Struhs. Instead of being cemented to your teeth like metal braces, Invisalign is completely removable. This means you can take them out while enjoying meals and snacks, and when brushing and flossing, as long as you put them right back in when done.

Advantages of Invisalign

Patients wearing Invisalign clear aligners can enjoy many advantages, such as:

  • Better Oral Hygiene: Since Invisalign aligners are removable, cleaning your teeth is easy as you simply brush and floss as you normally do.
  • Discreet Treatment: When you’re improving your smile with Invisalign, most people won’t even notice you’re wearing orthodontic appliances due to the transparency of the aligners. This means you can be self-confident throughout your treatment process as you never have to worry about how you look.
  • No Food Restrictions: Patients wearing braces have to follow a “Foods To Avoid” list, to ensure they protect their appliances during treatment. Certain foods can damage or break regular braces like hard, crunchy, sticky and gooey foods. With Invisalign, you can eat whatever you want because you simply remove the aligners before eating.
  • Comfort: When compared to conventional braces, Invisalign aligners are comfortable to wear. There is nothing present that can poke and irritate the inside of your cheeks like what is common with regular braces consisting of wires and brackets.
  • Can Protect Your Teeth: If you grind or clench your teeth, the aligners can serve as thin nightguards to protect your teeth from abnormal wear and tear.

While Invisalign can be used to treat many different orthodontic problems, not everyone is a good candidate for Invisalign. The only way to find out if you can be treated with Invisalign is to schedule a visit with us so Dr. Struhs can examine your teeth and bite.

How Invisalign Treatment Works

To begin your treatment, Dr. Struhs will devise a customized treatment plan for moving your teeth into proper alignment. This movement will be broken down into several stages. Align Technology (the maker of Invisalign) will create your customized plastic aligners, that are designed to fit perfectly into your mouth. Once your aligners arrive at our office, we will call you back in to give them to you. We will tell you to start your treatment by wearing the first set of aligners for approximately 2 weeks. You will then be told to simply move on to the next set of aligners in the series and so forth until your treatment is complete and you’re left with an amazing smile that’s both attractive and healthy!

Parker & Castle Rock Invisalign Treatment for Teens

invisalign-teenWe offer Invisalign Teen for our adolescent patients, with built-in “compliance indicators”, that fade with wear to indicate whether or not the teen is wearing the aligners as directed. Invisalign Teen aligners also come with special “eruption tabs” which hold space for molars that have not yet fully grown in. This option is great for teens who prefer to undergo more discreet treatment, with the same excellent results.

Tips for Optimal Results

One of the biggest advantages of Invisalign is that the aligners can be removed for easy cleaning. You should brush your teeth after every meal and snack, so food and plaque doesn’t get trapped under the aligners. You should also clean your aligners every day by brushing them with your toothbrush and rinsing them in lukewarm water. Never use hot water as it will warp your aligners to make them unusable.
How to Clean Clear Aligners

In order to achieve the straight smile you've been dreaming of, you must be 100% compliant with wearing your aligners for the recommended 20 hours per day. Skipping days or taking your aligners out at night can delay your treatment, as well as make it much more costly. You’ll need to wear a retainer(s) per our directions to protect the investment you’ve made in your amazing new smile.
